1999 goes to Florida Rep!

I’m SO pleased to announce my play, 1999, has been selected for Florida Rep’s PlayLab Festival of New Works! I’m going to Fort Myers, Florida for a week to rehearse, revise, and see a professional reading of the play, as well as be introduced to the other new plays and playwrights! I can’t wait! It’s all happening frighteningly (and exhilaratingly) fast.

Florida Rep New Works Festival

Saturday, May 3rd, at 7 PM: if any of my friends are in the area, I would love to see you there!

So much has happened and is happening with 1999. Stay tuned. Sometimes a play takes on a life of its’ own. That’s the hope I think. Almost like a child – you raise them up and send them out into the world and hope they become their own thing.

It’s so difficult to get selected to anything these days. It seems like there are hundreds, if not thousands, of applications for every opportunity. It’s even more difficult to get a production. I’m so full of gratitude for Florida Rep Theatre and the other places doing brave new work!

And once again, I want to acknowledge MAC Arts who gave me a grant that went a long way in helping me develop the script. Each new opportunity the play receives comes back to that intial support.
